They count with a unique collection of natural emeralds borned in the colombian ground. Preservated during 35 years with the purpose to be shown to the public to make conscience about the richness that our nation has in this gemstones.
This museum counts with a replica of a emerald tunnel of the mines located (mainly) in Muzo, Coscuez, and Chivor. The museum is located in the Avianca tower in the twenty-third floor.
The museum has two type of emeralds: artistic ones and natural ones. The artistic ones are formed by an artist, because the emerald couldn't be well extracted from the "lutita" (name of the rock where the emeralds born) so, the artist makes a sculpture with a part of the "lutita" and the emerald, having as a result a amazing art piece.
The natural ones, are the emeralds that are extracted without having the need to transform them into sculptures.
